Head Of Siddhartha As A Young Prince
An unusual sculpture head, portraying the Buddha as a young prince - following the Indo-Greek style – the eye-brows “arched like bows”, large almond-shaped eyes, the nose long, lips pursed and a swirling urna at the center of the brow. The hair is formed into an elaborate style, in set curls culminating in a lotus-form top-knot covering the ushnisha protuberance, and at each side falling in curls to the neck. A pair of large rosette or lotus-formed ear-rings complete the picture of opulent elegance.
